The Power of Stillness

Psalm 46:10

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

Devotional Reflection

In our fast-paced world, we are constantly bombarded with noise—the ping of notifications, the rush of deadlines, the clamor of responsibilities. Yet God calls us to a radical counter-cultural practice: stillness. This verse is not merely an invitation to quiet our bodies, but to quiet our souls. To be still means to cease striving, to stop trying to control outcomes, and to release our grip on anxiety. It is an active surrender, a deliberate choice to trust that God is sovereign over every detail of our lives. When we are still, we create space to truly know God—not just know about Him, but to experience His presence intimately. This knowing transforms us. It reminds us that He is the One who will be exalted, not by our frantic efforts, but by His own mighty power. Today, take five minutes to sit in silence before Him. Let go of your to-do list, your worries, and your plans. Simply breathe and whisper, "You are God." In that stillness, you will find peace that passes understanding, and your soul will be anchored in the unshakable truth of who He is.

Today’s Prayer

Lord, forgive me for the noise I invite into my life. Teach me to be still and to know You deeply. Quiet my anxious heart and help me trust that You are working all things for good. In the stillness, reveal Your glory and fill me with Your peace. Amen.
