The Power of Stillness
Psalm 46:10
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
Devotional Reflection
In our fast-paced world, silence feels almost unnatural. We fill every moment with noise—music, podcasts, notifications, endless chatter. Yet God calls us to a radical counter-cultural act: to be still. This isn't mere inactivity, but a deliberate posture of trust. When we pause, we acknowledge that He is God, not us. We release the frantic need to control outcomes, to solve every problem, to be the hero of our own story. Stillness is an act of war against anxiety. It says, "I trust You more than my own efforts." Consider Jesus in the storm-tossed boat, sleeping peacefully while disciples panicked. His rest wasn't denial of the storm; it was confidence in the Father's sovereignty. Today, before you rush into your tasks, take five minutes to be still. Breathe deeply. Whisper, "You are God. I am not." Let that truth settle into your bones. In that holy pause, you'll find strength not from striving, but from surrender. The world's noise will still be there when you return, but you'll carry the quiet of His presence within you.
Today’s Prayer
Heavenly Father, teach me the sacred art of stillness. Quiet my restless heart and anxious thoughts. Help me to release my grip on control and simply rest in who You are. In the silence, let me know You more deeply. Amen.
